I am Nick. For over ten years I built content businesses and made millions. AI and Google updates cut most of that down starting in 2023. I spent a long time angry about it, then I started using AI to build apps instead. I have never written a real line of code, and I am documenting the whole thing on YouTube.
I am 40 years old. I spent the last decade-plus building businesses on the internet, back when one good blog and a bit of SEO could pay for your whole life. It worked. I made real money doing it, the kind that let me travel full-time and quit ever having a boss.
Then AI showed up, and I watched the floor fall out from under the thing I had spent ten years building. So I am learning to build software with AI now, with zero coding background, mostly so I do not end up another washed-up millennial who got left behind. This is me figuring it out in public, mistakes and all.
Before AI, I had a real content empire. Here is the honest version of it.
It started with a travel blog called Goats on the Road. My wife and I were broke, traveling the world on almost nothing, and writing about it. Over the years it grew into one of the bigger independent travel sites on the internet, with millions of readers.
From there I built more. I sold an SEO course that taught people how to do exactly what had worked for me. I built a fly-fishing brand in a niche I actually love, and it grew into a six-figure business. Across all of it, over more than a decade, the businesses I built made millions of dollars.
I learned how to grow an audience, how to write for an actual human, and how to turn traffic into income, long before I ever thought about code. That decade is where all of this comes from.
The honest part most people leave out of the highlight reel.
Starting in 2023, AI and a run of Google updates gutted most of it. Traffic that took me ten years to build dropped off a cliff. The income that came with it went the same way. Watching the thing you spent a decade on shrink to almost nothing is a special kind of gut-punch, and I am not going to pretend it was not.
So I did what a lot of people did. I spent a long stretch angry at AI, blaming it, hating on it, convinced the old way would come back if I just waited it out. It did not come back. The wave had already moved, and standing on the beach being mad about it was not paying anyone.
Rebuilding with AI instead of fighting it.
At some point I got tired of being angry and decided to use the thing that beat me. I started building apps and software with AI, even though I have never written a real line of code in my life. I describe what I want in plain English, the AI writes it, and when something looks broken I tell it what looks broken and it fixes it.
I am rebuilding my income one app at a time, and I am putting all of it on YouTube. The wins, the dumb mistakes, the stuff that breaks at 2am, every step of it.
